I love Unix. and Linux, and *BSD.

FreeBSD - good OS but I don;t use it anymore.
Linux is Slackware! Mandrake looks nicer than RedHat but I don't like both. Debian seems to be useful but is in constant development. Kernel is here.
Debian on Indy - kernel, Guido's stuff.

I worked on OpenGL UTAH-GLX driver for XFree86 3.3.6 for S3 Savage3d/IX/MX. It can run glQuake and Quake 3 and most of Mesa demos but it still has some problems. Tim Roberts is doing good job on S3 2D drivers here and here.
